This website provides a summary of CWIPP’s rules and regulations in simple language. It is not a legal document and does not cover every detail. A complete description of CWIPP’s rules and regulations can be found in the legal documents that govern CWIPP, which are available from the Plan Administrator upon written request. Every effort has been made to make this website as accurate as possible. If there are any differences between the information on this website and CWIPP’s legal documents, those legal documents will govern.

Benefit Changes

The Trustees have the right to change CWIPP’s rules and regulations at any time. This may include increasing or decreasing CWIPP benefits and/or pensions. CWIPP’s rules and regulations provide that your benefits accrue under a number of conditions, including that sufficient contributions are received on your behalf to pay the cost of those benefits over time. If your employer stops making contributions to CWIPP, or CWIPP experiences a funding shortfall, your accrued benefits and/or pension could be reduced. This could include, but is not limited to, situations where there is a new or amended collective agreement which eliminates contributions, the local union is decertified, the employer closes the workplace, or CWIPP suffers significant investment losses. That means, the actual benefits active and inactive members, pensioners and beneficiaries will receive from CWIPP could be lower than the amounts indicated on this website.

This pension calculator is intended to give you an idea of what your future CWIPP pension might be. The pension estimates produced by it are based on the information currently on file for you. The actual amount of your CWIPP pension will depend upon the form of pension you select, your future service and employment, the amount of contributions received by CWIPP on your behalf, CWIPP’s rules and regulations and all applicable legislation.

The amount of CWIPP pension you may receive in the future will depend on many things, including, but not limited to, how long you participate in CWIPP, your future contributions, your age at retirement and whether there are any changes to CWIPP’s rules and regulations. The estimates produced by this pension calculator do not result in any entitlement to a CWIPP pension and are not binding on CWIPP. Actual pension amounts will be calculated by the Plan Administrator using current, verified data and will be paid in accordance with CWIPP’s rules and regulations and applicable legislation.
